The Bottega Cup Championship is in full swing and Whitney Walker has taken the early season lead with a pair of wins with different partners. Walker and Lauren Sanders won the May 9 Rox Volleyball Series Qualifier. Two weeks later, Walker won the Select Division of the Puget Sound Region Beach High Performance Qualifier with Sophia Lawrence.
The Cup title is far from decided and one of the toughest challenges of the season is coming together for this weekend's AVPFirst Manhattan Beach Junior Invitational Qualifier. The open division field includes Cyrene Hertzog and Deahna Kraft, who will be looking to make a big leap up the leader board after they won the Youth Division of the PSR Beach HP Qualifier last weekend. Hertzog won the inagural Bottega Cup Championship in 2013 and has since become a regular competitor at the Women's level and verbally committed to play sand volleyball at the University of Hawaii. Her partner, Kraft is verbally committed to play sand volleyball at Pepperdine.
